I recently got myself an iPhone, life it seemed was good and fun; but after a very short romance, I thinking it's time for a divorce.
It's not the plethora of shovelware that is causing my blood to boil, nor is it the seemingly unexplained hanging that frequently plagues me after view photos...
What really has pissed me of is Apple's decision to ban me, without good reason, from being able to tether using my phone. Let me explain....
I didn't want to go with O2 as I was happy with Vodafone, so I decided to shell out for a factory unlocked / SIM free iPhone from www.handtec.co.uk. Everything was initially ok and tethering worked under 3.0. I then got offered the 3.1 update from Apple and decided to apply it, having read the website and seen the improvements... However under 3.1 tethering has been removed and can only be enabled by the carrier...
So I contacted Vodafone, who told me that they wouldn't help; so I phoned Apple.
Initially their support people agreed that there was no good reason why I couldn't tether and they agreed to escalate the issue to engineering. Engineering responded saying that they won't help, despite having a legit SIM free phone. The support person then suggested that if I wanted to get tethering to work that I "jailbreak" the phone, which would invalidate the warranty !!!
I was quite an Apple advocate, but this draconian approach to locking out features of SIM free phones is just not on.
Next stop the various government bodies who may or may not be able/willing to help... either that or the phone goes back

Dyslexica is different...
Interesting article @ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/07/AR2008040701798.html
makes me wonder if, being dyslexic myself, if there is a evolutionary reason for some brains to see the symbolic / background and others to see the foreground / actual. Is it because in a social body of animals there is a need for attackers and defenders ?
